It’s midnight under the neon lights.
I smell wet concrete. My shoes click and echo as my toes start to soak.
The sky grumbles its complaints.
The colors around me begin to melt.
Black puddles on the ground reflect the bright signs above.
It’s hard to tell where the city ends and the reflection begins.
Is it all the same now?
Are those people… or just shadows left behind by the too-bright lights drowning everything—and everyone—out?
I look down.
My reflection stares back.
And you walk beside me.
But all I see is who we used to be,
Before the world got too loud.
